Fremont, California USA – March 2, 2012 – With an estimated 25 million people of Indian origin living outside of India, The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) is an international network of people of Indian origin (PIO). GOPIO was founded at the First Global Convention of People of Indian Origin in New York in 1989.
Ajay Jain Bhutoria was unanimously elected as President of The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO International) Silicon Valley Chapter on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at a GOPIO Board of Directors Meeting held in Fremont, CA. Jeevan Zutshi, the Founder of local GOPIO and Past President welcomed and Congratulated the new Board of Directors. Jeevan welcomed the team saying “As the founding member and past President of this GOPIO local chapter, I feel blessed to see such a dynamic team take tremendous interest in building this chapter very strong for the benefit of global Indian community.” Dr. Piyush C. Agrawal, Senior Vice President, GOPIO International also congratulated Ajay Jain Bhutoria and the new Board of Directors Ena Sarkar , Sheetal Ohri , Niloy Banerjee , Rohit Saini , Jeevan Zutshi and Raj Nathawat.
GOPIO Silicon Valley will be focused on working at raising awareness and issues for resolution in all areas ranging from education, immigration, healthcare, political education related to South-Asians/Indo-Americans and working for cohesive growth of USA and Indian relationship and world at large. The new board will be working towards building bilateral relationships between Silicon Valley and other GOPIO chapters worldwide in context of the defined focus areas.
GOPIO Silicon Valley (Global Organization of the People of Indian Origin) and IACF-US (Indo-American Community Federation) will be organizing the 11th Annual Unity Dinner 2012 being held in Fremont Marriott on Friday March 23, 2012 starting at 6:15 PM and will feature Silicon valley leadership CEO Carl Guardino as Keynote speaker. Federal, State of California, County and City officials will be present to promote diversity and rally behind this year’s theme – CREATING JOBS! Excellent cultural program will make the dinner evening delightful. This is the 11th anniversary event after 9/11. A PRESS CONFERENCE is scheduled for members of the media during this event starting at 6:15 PM.
